SACRED HEART CATHEDRAL SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

WELCOME "HOME"
Sacred Heart Cathedral School was dedicated by Bishop  Davis on January 17, 1915.  In 2004, after almost 90 years of being open, the decision was made for Sacred Heart Cathedral and Holy Family Catholic Church to combine their schools to become All Saints Catholic  School.  In 2005 Saint Alphonsus School also joined with the two  parishes and consolidated into All Saints Catholic School.  The Sacred  Heart school building was demolished in August, 2017 as part of  construction of a new Diocesan Hall.

All Saints Catholic School  is now located at 1926 Marquette Street; Davenport, Iowa  52804.  It was  formed to maintain a quality Catholic education for our parish families  and others in our faith community now and into the future.  The school  is financially supported by Sacred Heart Cathedral, Holy Family, and  Saint Alponsus parishes and operated under a School Board consisting of  members of all three parishes.  All Saints Catholic School is committed  to nurturing each child's spiritual, intellectual, social, moral,  emotional, and physical development.

All Saints is open to preschool thru 8th grade students and is proud of their growing enrollment!!!

2017 SACRED HEART REUNION

About 500 Alumni and friends submitted reservations for this all-school reunion held on June 24.

Attendees began to gather at 3 pm for tours of the school building, which was scheduled to be demolished as part of construction of the new Diocesan Hall.  The group then moved to the Cathedral where they attended Mass with the new Bishop of the Davenport Diocese, Thomas Zinkula.

Following Mass, there was a short program during which remarks were made by Pastor Rev. Rich Adam, Mary Schepker Kellenberger, Co-Chair of the Reunion Committee, and Sr. Teri Hadro, President of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  After the remarks,
Fr. Rich and Alumni Patrick Costello '51 opened the
1914 TIME CAPSULE
that was found in the cornerstone of the school building.

A light picnic supper with Cathedral Ale & wine was served after Mass in the Rectory garden after Mass.

SACRED HEART SCHOOL MEMORIAL MERCHANDISE

The school building may be gone, but parts of it live on thanks to careful removal of the blackboards, stage curtains and exterior bricks by several wonderful volunteers.  These items have been turned into the following keepsakes that are currently for sale:
Keepsake Heart Pillows and framed art from the
100-year-old Sacred Heart School Auditorium stage curtain!  The red velvet reminds us of Christ’s Passion, of the sanctuary of our Lord, of the reverence owed to God…
and it reminds us of “old Sacred Heart,” our school.  Limited editions ~ We harvested only part of the curtain.
Get a heart while supplies last!  This is a Sacred Heart fundraiser produced by  Judith & Mary Costello.

Suggested Donations:
Small pillow  (approx. 3"X3.5" - $10
Medium pillow (approx. 7"X8") - $20
Large pillow  (approx. 10"X11") - $30
Framed Art (5"X7) - $20
